Antonio CAROL

Established 1981

Born in Saint Anne Jamaica, Antonio’s Journey began somewhere in the late 1990's to mid 2000's, when a close friend let him borrow their Nikon camera for a few days. The idea was just to learn how to use the camera, and with an interest in film which is his true passion, began a love for photography. Thinking that he’d learn how to use the camera and then eventually start to photograph himself, he soon realized that he enjoyed being behind the lens rather than in front of it. but it wasn't until 2010 that it came into fruition when he finally purchased his Own camera (A Canon T3i of the Rebel series). Since then he’s been honing his skills, sharpening methods and developing a reputation as a Professional photographer. I’ve never really given much thought to what my style of shooting was or is, over time as I look at my work so far and also based on feedback that I’ve gotten; I’d have to say that my style is a fusion of close intimate shots, in the style of noir, timeless, inspired by music and film,.. Reggae/ jazz/ hip hop/ Gospel/ Rock, just Music period. music puts images in my head, and then I try to bring those images to life. But it doesn’t always (if at all) work out quite that way, because in real time, there are those little intimate moments that happen without planning, and that’s where I find my work.

Born on the vibrant island of Jamaica and raised in the heart of Brooklyn, Antonio Carol is a photographer whose work pulses with soul, story, and spirit. His journey began as a child adjusting to life in the U.S., surrounded by the rhythm of city streets and the echoes of jazz, blues, rock, reggae, and hip hop. These sounds—paired with his deep-rooted faith in God—shaped not only his worldview but also the way he sees through the lens.

Antonio’s photography has been described as moody, sensual, candid, and noir—a visual language that speaks of raw emotion and quiet intensity. Whether capturing intimate portraits or cinematic street scenes, he draws from the same wells of inspiration that first stirred him: music, memory, faith, and film.

Through every frame, Antonio invites viewers to linger in the shadows, feel the atmosphere, and find beauty in the unscripted moments of life.

Though I may occasionally shoot in a studio, my preference is to be outdoors or use a particular location, most of the time that would be my apartment or my client’s apartment or a particular neighborhood, I like for my photos to look and feel like a personal moment in a persons life that the viewer wouldn’t otherwise see unless they were there. I want my images to feel like
